Hape (also called hape, rapeh) is a sacred traditional medicine plant of the indigenous peoples of the Amazon. It is a small, very finely ground powder made from dried and ground leaves of the strong wild plant, mixed with the ashes of sacred trees, bark, seeds, roots and other medicinal plants of the Amazon forest.
Popular ingredients for Hape
- Tsunu or similar trees are one of the most common, known for their strong cleansing effect.
- Murici has a more calming effect, suitable for daily use.
- Cumaru, Mulungu, Guarana, Imburana, Pau Pereira, Samauma and many others.
- Sometimes cocoa, mint, cloves, cinnamon or other plants are added to enhance visions or calm down.
Tribes and regions
Different tribes of the Amazon have their own cooking traditions.
The main regions are Brazil (especially the state of Acre), Peru, Colombia, and partly Ecuador. Each tribe brings its own characteristics: some make stronger, "fiery" mixtures for deep cleansing, some tribes - softer for meditation or everyday use.
Spiritual and practical significance of Hape
Hpe is considered a powerful herbal tool for cleansing, healing and spiritual work.
Hape is traditionally used:
- to cleanse the energy field and body of stagnant energies, negative emotions and blocks;
- to ground, focus the mind and prepare for other ceremonies or meditations;
- for better clarity before important decisions;
- for physical cleansing (clears sinuses, helps with headaches, detoxification).
Reception is usually through a special tube, kuripe - for independent work, or tepi - when the seas takes place in a pair with another person.
